UpWrite Clipstand technology was invented by a law student, who got tired of traditional pens and their clips.

The inventor found that, after writing volumes of law school notes, he had to rip off the clips to his pens because they rubbed the crease between his thumb and forefinger. He would then proceed to replace with a binder clip so his pens wouldn’t roll off the table.

He filed his first patent was filed with the USPTO in June 2004 – to encompass writing implements with “clipstands” that are securely attached to the distal end of the barrel.

Today, UpWrite’s IP portfolio is comprised of patents 7,267,504 & 7,909,528, patents pending, several registered copyrights and trademarks.
